SAGE University and Youth4GH2 Inked a Memorandum of Understanding to Address the Climate Crisis

SAGE University, Bhopal, and Youth4GH2 signed and Memorandum of Understanding on 22nd July 2022. Under this MoU, the parties are committed to working together and with other universities, colleges, and, organizations - to tackle the climate crisis, which must be addressed with the seriousness and urgency that it demands. The parties are committed to achieving the goals set out in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement. The parties note the Agreement's aim (Article2) to hold the global average temperature, increase to well below 2 degrees C, and pursue efforts to limit it to 1.5 degrees C. The Paris Agreement is a legally enforceable international climate change accord. It was approved by 196 Parties at COP 21 in Paris on December 12, 2015, and went into effect on November 4, 2016. Its objective is to keep global warming considerably below 2 degrees Celsius, preferably 1.5 degrees Celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels. Countries intend to accomplish this long-term temperature objective by peaking global greenhouse gas emissions as soon as feasible to establish a climate-neutral planet by mid-century.

The Paris pact is a watershed moment in the international climate change process because it brings all nations together for the first time in a binding agreement to undertake aggressive measures to combat climate change and adapt to its repercussions. The parties agree and immobilize and promote students and university leadership in contributing to green hydrogen by highlighting the importance of the Green Hydrogen sector in local, national, and international implementation. The parties under this MoU believe that universities and colleges have a unique and critical role in helping the world achieve this climate crisis by adopting Green Hydrogen technology through their research, teaching, operations, and community leadership since they are going to be the future stakeholders and leaders in this industry. Thus, the need to involve universities and colleges in a green hydrogen regime is viewed as an immediate cause by both parties.

With its thought-provoking curriculum and superb infrastructure, the institution provides students with best-in-class facilities for securing their future. Sanjeev Agrawal Global Educational (SAGE) University, Bhopal strives to provide students with a world-class education while also preparing them for a rapidly changing society. Our educational innovation goal is to make Sage University, Bhopal the best university in MP and Central India.

Youth for Green Hydrogen (Youth4GH2) was founded in March 2022 as a network of enthusiastic young women and men working in the green hydrogen industry. The goal is to raise the profile and amplify the voices of young people involved in Green Hydrogen. The network serves as a platform for fostering information sharing and connecting Youth in green hydrogen. Y4GH2 presented the world's first young declaration on Green Hydrogen at the Green Hydrogen Assembly, with the consultation of over ten nations. It is an inclusive movement of young people seeking to find answers to the climate catastrophe, and we firmly believe that only green technology can minimize the world's reliance on its current use of fossil fuels. While the use of green technology will be achieved gradually, the emergency climate issue requires every young person to take action in developing our society based on renewable energy sources, particularly green hydrogen.

A network is a place where individuals may Engage, Empower, and Evolve. Furthermore, we are certain that this may be achieved if Green Hydrogen is produced locally, such as in villages and townships, due to lower production costs and the participation of community members, particularly young women and men, as well as indigenous populations. Because we believe that educating children, adolescents, and the elderly is best achieved through a life cycle approach, intergenerational interactions are central to our method.

We will be able to create a future in which Green Hydrogen energy sources are embraced and adapted if we work together. The network maintains a worldwide expert database of young people working in the green hydrogen business, which is a valuable resource for event organizers looking to showcase Youth expertise and abilities. Youth in green hydrogen today accounts for just 3.5 percent of conference presenters. The network is committed to producing and marketing future events with at least 30% youth panelist involvement. The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding is to strengthen the relationship between SAGE University and Youth4GH2 in order to promote both parties' shared values and interests. The parties acknowledge that this Memorandum of Understanding is not legally binding, but rather indicates the parties' commitment to meeting the objectives. These are the goals that both sides have agreed to assist and promote each other's climate action activities, as well as raise international awareness of green hydrogen at the university and student levels.

SAGE University and Youth4GH2 will collaborate to stimulate more youth participation in green hydrogen policy, as well as to engage universities throughout India to raise awareness of green hydrogen through dialogues, networking events, talks, and research. This agreement will stimulate student engagement in Green Hydrogen policies and implementations at the local, national, and worldwide levels, as well as support and promote student participation in the development of a Global Green Hydrogen Day. Youth4GH2 and SAGE University will work together to prepare for national, regional, and global Youth for Green Hydrogen Global Assemblies, as well as to engage in the "Skilling Youth for Green Hydrogen" online and offline capacity-building programs.

We seek to further this cause by promoting youth entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial activities to support Green Hydrogen incubators for young women and men entrepreneurs. This effort will bring parties together to promote student innovation in order to localize the production and use of Green Hydrogen, as well as to stimulate youth creativity and research in order to produce low-cost innovation in the advancement of Green Hydrogen production and usage. Both sides commit to developing the leadership of young women/girls' students in Green Hydrogen from the local to the global levels, as well as to support and incorporating marginalized and indigenous students and youth in Youth for Green Hydrogen programs. This MoU will emphasize the commitment to support youth voluntary work at the Global Youth for Green Hydrogen Secretariat, and SAGE University, in collaboration with Youth4GH2, will curate the Youth for Green Hydrogen curriculum toward knowledge sharing and capacity building of Green Hydrogen students.
