How SAGE University's Liberal Education Prepares Students for Global Success?

“The time has come to create a second wave of institution building and of excellence in the fields of education, research and capability building”- Anonymous

In India, a stark contrast unfolds: while many struggle to secure employment domestically, Indians who venture beyond the nation's borders often find themselves flourishing. From management to technology, and even in leadership positions, individuals like Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai, and Indira Nooyi serve as prominent examples of this phenomenon. Sundar Pichai has shared a poignant anecdote in interviews, revealing how his father sacrificed years' worth of income to procure a flight ticket for Sundar, allowing him to attend Stanford University.

This narrative raises a compelling question: Why would an individual aspire to pursue education at prestigious global institutions? What distinguishes these institutions from others? The answer lies in the evolving dynamics of this world—an era marked by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA), alongside hyper-globalization. In this context, the significance of interdisciplinary learning and a multidisciplinary approach encapsulated in the concept of LIBERAL EDUCATION becomes evident.

How does a liberal education differ from professional or vocational education? Are these two divergent or are they in opposition, or do they contribute to each other? These are critical questions. Liberal education is a multi-faceted form of learning and forces you to think laterally. It develops the ability of a student to find multiple solutions to a given problem.

SAGE University is the first Liberal Education University in Madhya Pradesh offering degrees such as BBA, BCom, BSc, BPA, BA, and B.Des etc. You can do B Com with AI, and BBA with fashion design- 250 plus major- minor combinations from 25 plus majors and 25 plus minors. Foundation courses like Design Thinking, Critical Thinking, Innovation and Creativity, Ethics and Business, and Art of Negotiation among others alongside small pockets of all other major subjects in the first common semester, will provide students with a comprehensive overview of various disciplines. This approach ensures that confused students will be able to navigate their way in this world, free from parental or peer pressure, and find their true calling based on their interests rather than external expectations.

SAGE University aims to solve employability issues. When students discover & pursue what they love and are passionate about, their likelihood of success and job satisfaction increases. Moreover, the program doesn't have to end after three years; an additional year could lead to a double major. Even the ‘Minor’ curriculum will have around 60–80% as many credits as a major. Reducing confusion and enhancing the educational experience.

Adding to this holistic approach, internships are integrated into every year of the graduation span. For instance, in the first year, the SUCLE (SAGE University Center for Liberal Education) offers a unique program titled "India vs. Bharat," which explores the dichotomy between the rapidly digitalizing urban India and the still underdeveloped rural Bharat, often stereotyped by images of snake charmers and fakirs. This exposure provides students with a deeper understanding of the diverse realities within their own country, preparing them for global challenges.

Applying for this program can significantly build a student's career. By combining quality academic learning with real-world experiences, SAGE University equips students with the skills, knowledge, and adaptability necessary to thrive in today's dynamic world. With faculty credentials from top global universities, students are prepared not just for their first job, but for a lifetime of learning, growth, and success!!
