In today's rapidly changing world, education must continuously adapt to keep pace with technological advancements and shifting career demands. Asia, particularly India, stands at the threshold of a challenging transformation in its educational landscape Despite our rich history of leadership, entrepreneurship, and management, we often find ourselves at a crossroads.
The changing face of global financial and trade architecture ensures that we can no longer
afford to focus on only one domain. It is essential to equip oneself with the diverse
opportunities unfolding across various fields and disciplines.
The rise of artificial intelligence,
innovative industry requirements, existential questions posed by the youth, and the
seemingly never-ending recession—all call for thoughtful minds who can think critically and
analytically at the same time.
For decades, undergraduate and postgraduate programs have confined students to a narrow or limited range of fields: Engineering, Management, Commerce, Design, Hotel Management, Law, etc., compelling them to choose one domain. This conventional approach has limited students' ability to develop 21st-century skills. With an increasing number of organizations seeking graduates in psychology and law over engineers, chartered accountants, business professionals, and so on, there is a growing appreciation for liberal education, which fosters interdisciplinary learning, adaptability, and a multidisciplinary approach. Solving complex problems and fostering innovative thinking require a mind nurtured in diversity. Liberal education solves this puzzle.
At SAGE University Centre for Liberal and Advanced Studies (CLAS), we are committed to addressing these and other challenges. Our goal is to disrupt conventional, status-quo-oriented thinking and thereby create educated, adaptable, and innovative citizens who are prepared to navigate and lead in this dynamic era. SAGE reinforces and repositions traditional disciplines such as natural and physical sciences, management and leadership, humanities, social sciences, fine and performing arts, among others.
In addition to these core subjects, we emphasize crucial skills such as design thinking, financial literacy, and management principles, providing a comprehensive education that prepares students not just for a career, but for life and its challenges. The inclusion of management education, including MBA programs, reflects our commitment to producing well-rounded leaders capable of excelling in diverse and complex environments. CLAS is a movement, and we seek support from parents, teachers, professionals, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, social reformers, and all other stakeholders to participate in Nation- Building.
