Fashion Designing Courses in India

The B.Des. (Hons/Research) program under NEP 2020 is a four-year undergraduate design course that offers students the flexibility to pursue a Major and Minor specialization from among Fashion Design, Interior Design, and Product Design. Rooted in the multidisciplinary ethos of the NEP, the program is structured to provide a strong foundation in design principles SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE PLANNING AND DESIGN while encouraging individual interests and cross-disciplinary learning.

During the first two years, students engage with a common set of departmental core subjects that cover the fundamentals of design, including visual thinking, design methodology, materials and processes, and digital tools. Alongside this, students begin focusing on their chosen Major and Minor specializations, allowing them to gain a comprehensive understanding of both areas while exploring their interconnections. This integrated approach ensures that by the end of the second year, students are well-versed in the basic design process across disciplines. In the subsequent years, the curriculum deepens their expertise in the Major subject while continuing to support learning in the Minor, culminating in a final year research or capstone project that reflects both creative and academic rigor.
