The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) Sponsored MDP on "Enterprise Skills for Conservation and Fair Income” Under Training of Other Stakeholders was held from 19-21 October 2023 at IIFM Bhopal. Eight students of School of Agriculture namely Hemant Tomar, Deepika Kumari, Ruchika Das, Nikita Morley, Prem Kumar Verma, Om Tiwari, Manas Singh and Ishant Raghuwanshi from School of Agriculture were selected as national participants out of 30 total participants from PAN India basis for this training programme. Three days were designed in such a manner that students could learn by their participation in various entrepreneurial activities".

Expert Lectures followed by camping, trekking, visits to forest museum, caves, Van Vihar and forest based products shops were planned to generate interest and awareness among the participants regarding forest based entrepreneurship.

Students expressed heartfelt gratitude for organizing this incredible 3-day training programme. Students expressed, it was truly a memorable journey starting with well experienced Guest of Honors and IIFM faculty members providing new learning & organizing educational tour to Katotiya. During their visit to the caves, they learned about the eco-tourism and livelihood of farmers and entrepreneurial skills which provided them an insight into how they can earn and coexist with forest. Students were guided by Dr. Smriti Singh, Assistant Professor, School of Agriculture for their selection in this training program.

Dr. Deepak Kher, Dean, School of Agriculture extended heartiest Congratulations to all the students and said he looks forward to more such wonderful opportunities to learn and grow in the field of Agro-forestry with IIFM fraternity.

The Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) working under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE). ASCI works towards capacity building by bridging gaps and upgrading skills of farmers, wage workers, self-employed & extension workers engaged in organized or unorganized segments of Agriculture & Allied Sectors.

The Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) is contributing to nation-building through Skill Development in different aspects of Agriculture and allied sectors like Farm Mechanization and Precision Farming, Agri-Information Management, Dairy Farm Management, Poultry Farm Management, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Post-Harvest Supply Chain Management, Forestry and Agro Forestry, Watershed Management, Amenity Horticulture and Landscaping, Production Horticulture, Seeds Industry, Soil Health Management, Commodity Management, Agri Entrepreneurship and Rural Enterprises etc. To follow the footsteps of ASCI, different organizations and society related to agriculture and allied sectors are organizing training programs and short term courses.

One such training program was organized from April 9th to April 29th 2023.School of Agriculture also become an integral part of this training program. Dr. Smriti Singh coordinated the training program on behalf of SAGE University and encouraged students to be a part and parcel of the program for skill based knowledge in different agricultural and allied sectors technologies for their bright career.

Four of students of B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture VIth semester students Rishabh Rao, Sonali Sahu, Avriti Sejal Sahu and Damini Lokhande and one IV th semester student Hemant Tomar has successfully completed their training program in “AGRI SKILL INDIA (ASI) – 2023 from 9th April to 29th April 2023 jointly organized by ICAR- Indian Institute of Millet Research, Punjab and Hindustan Agricultural research welfare society (HARWS)
