AI Smart Technologies in Agriculture Building the Future of Farming

The Value Added Course “AI Smart Technologies in Agriculture: Building the Future of Farming” is designed to introduce students to the emerging role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and smart technologies in modern agriculture. The course aims to bridge the gap between conventional farming practices and technology-driven agriculture by providing knowledge of AI, Machine Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), drones, robotics, sensors, remote sensing, and precision farming. The major objectives are to familiarize students with the applications of AI in crop monitoring, disease and pest detection, yield prediction, weather forecasting, smart irrigation, soil and nutrient management, and efficient use of agricultural resources. The course will also create awareness about the opportunities, challenges, and future potential of digital technologies in agriculture. Through expert lectures, demonstrations, case studies, and interactive activities, students will gain practical exposure to emerging smart farming technologies. On completion of the course, students will be able to understand the basic concepts of AI and smart agriculture, identify their applications in different agricultural operations, and appreciate the role of data-driven technologies in improving farm productivity, profitability, resource-use efficiency, and sustainability. The course will also help students explore emerging opportunities in research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and careers in digital agriculture. Overall, the VAC aims to prepare students to become technology-oriented agricultural professionals capable of contributing to smart, sustainable, climate-resilient, and future-ready farming systems.
