National Conference on "Human Values Inherent in Indian Culture Philosophy”

About the program
It brings me immense joy to announce that that Sanjeev Agrawal Global Educational (SAGE) University, Bhopal, is organizing a National Conference on "Human Values Inherent in Indian Culture Philosophy”, funded by Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR), during 16th -17th March, 2026, This Conference aims to explore the philosophical foundations of human values in Indian traditions and highlight the contemporary relevance of Indian ethical thought for education, social integration, leadership, environmental stewardship, and mental well-being.

Indian culture and philosophy represent one of the world’s most enduring and comprehensive traditions of ethical thought and human values. Over thousands of years, Indian civilisation has developed a rich philosophical heritage rooted in the Vedas, Upanishads, Buddhist and Jain traditions, the Bhagavad Gita, Sikh philosophy, and diverse schools of classical and regional thought. These traditions emphasise values such as truth (satya), non-violence (ahimsa), compassion (karuna), duty (dharma), self-discipline (sanyam), tolerance, harmony, and selfless service (seva), which together aim at both individual well-being and collective welfare.

In the contemporary world, rapid globalisation, technological advancement, environmental degradation, social fragmentation, and ethical challenges have created a growing disconnect between material progress and moral responsibility. Despite scientific and policy-driven solutions, many modern problems such as stress, intolerance, erosion of community life, and decline in ethical conduct require deeper philosophical and value-oriented responses. Indian cultural and philosophical traditions offer an integrated worldview that balances material development with spiritual wisdom, yet these values are often misunderstood, marginalised, or reduced to ritualistic practices without adequate intellectual engagement.

The National Conference on “Human Values Inherent in Indian Culture and Philosophy” seeks to provide a meaningful academic platform to revisit, reinterpret, and re-contextualise India’s ethical heritage in light of present-day challenges. This Conference aims to provide an intellectually stimulating platform for scholars, academicians, researchers, educationists, philosophers, and students to engage in meaningful dialogue on the timeless human values embedded in India’s rich cultural and philosophical traditions.
In the two-day National Conference on ‘Knowledge Tradition inherent in Indian Heritage', research papers on each sub-themes are invited, which after a review will be published in International Journal Akshay Varta and International Journal of Krishna Vasanti.
