Kisan Diwas

The National Farmers Day also known as Kisan Divas is celebrated on 23rd December every year to mark the Birth Anniversary the 5th Prime Minister of India, Shri Choudhary Charan Singh. Selfless contributions of farmers of the country in achieving record agricultural production amidst the serious challenges imposed by COVID-19 pandemic and other natural calamities were acknowledged. Kisan Diwas (Farmers Day) was celebrated by School of Agriculture at SAGE University, Bhopal with great enthusiasm. This year the Event Coordinator Dr. Smriti Singh has framed the theme "Attracting Youths in Agriculture to continue the Legacy of Farming" for the event to encourage the budding agrarians to opt profitable farming as their profession. As we know due to monotonous work & dis interest of the youths, youths are continuously discontinuing their old age traditional of Farming so there is a need to make this profession attractive & profitable. The occasion marks the display of a wide array of various programmes on the farmers’ unparalleled contributions for the growth and progress of the nation. One Expert Lecture was delivered by Dr. Deepak Kher, Dean School of Agriculture on Current Situation of Farmers in India and their Outstanding Contribution in Nation Building. Students enthusiastically participated in poster competitions, singing competition. Students relished the dance performance of girl gang. Best performances were felicitated with token of appreciation certificates. At the end of the programme an Awareness Campaign was organised on Farmers' Rights.
